PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
A. Supervises the school’s instruction program and monitors implementation of district curriculum in order to improve student learning.
B. Facilitates collaboration among teachers on matters affecting the needs, interests, and achievements of students.
C. Works with curriculum staff to initiate, design, and implement programs to meet specific needs of the school and assists in the development, revision, and evaluation in the district’s curriculum.
D. Implements and documents the initiatives outlined in the School Improvement Plan.
E. Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
F. Supervises and evaluates the school’s extracurricular program.
G. Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.
II. PERSONAL LEADERSHIP SKILLS
A. Problem Analysis: Finds relevant data and analyzes complex information; searches for information with a purpose.
B. Judgment: Reaches logical conclusions; identified educational needs and setting priorities; evaluates written communications and makes decisions that are in alignment with school and district goals.
C. Organizational Ability: Plans, schedules and directs work of others; knows and uses resources; knows how to handle great and competing demands on one’s time.

K. Student/Staff Morale: Discerns levels of moral and acts accordingly.
L. Keeps abreast of changes of developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
M. Uses information and insights provided through assessment instruments, the district appraisal proves, evaluative feedback from supervisors, and professional development programs to improve performance.
III. SCHOOL /ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
A. Determines and builds a common vision with staff for school improvement; directs planning activities; implements programs collaboratively with staff to ensure attainment of school’s mission; encourages active involvement in the decision process among staff.
B. Communicates and promotes expectations for high performance from staff and students; recognizes excellence and achievement.
C. Leads a collaborative process to develop school performance objectives involving staff, parents, and community members.
D. Implements interventions to reduce unwarranted disparities in placement of students into gifted and talented, special education, and alternative school programs.
E. Effectively utilizes services of system wide administrators.
F. Monitors all school improvement efforts to insure equitable student access to resources and rigorous curriculum.
IV. PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
A. Interviews and selects high performing staff.
B. Defines expectations for staff performance regarding instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the public. This practice should begin with employee orientation.
C. Observes employee performance, records observations, and conducts evaluation conferences with all staff in accordance with best practice and negotiated contracts.
D. Makes recommendations relative to personnel placement, transfer, retention, promotion, and dismissal that are tied to student achievement.
E. Confers with staff regarding their professional growth; works jointly with them to develop and accomplish improvement goals.
F. Facilitates effective and timely resolutions to conflicts.
G. Recruits, hires, and retains a diverse teaching staff.
H. Attends regular meetings of the Superintendent’s staff and serves actively to improve communication, cooperation, and planning.
V. STUDENT MANAGEMENT
A. Communicates expectations for student conduct.
B. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according to the due process rights of students and within the guidelines established by the Board of Education.
C. Effectively implements attendance improvement initiates.
D. Supervises and maintenance of accurate student records in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
E. Implements appropriate interventions to eliminate unwarranted disparities in discipline referrals, suspensions and expulsions.
F. Assists in the development and implementation of student and classroom plans.
G. Assists in the development and implementation of District discipline initiatives at the district and building level.
I. Responds appropriately to students’ academic needs.
J. Understands and responds to students’ individual and social needs.
K. Willingly assumes responsibilities for evening and weekend activities and supervises them in an appropriate manner. L. Monitors all student management issues for equity in implementation and application while ensuring that activities exist to maximize student involvement.
VI. SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
A. Articulates the school’s mission to the community and solicits its support in realizing the mission.
B. Demonstrates awareness of school/community needs and initiates activities to meet those identified needs.
C. Uses appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
D. Supports the Superintendent in his overall administrative efforts; interprets his ideas and decisions to the staff and public; keeps him informed of pertinent school developments and events; seeks supervisor’s counsel or decision as necessary.
VII. ADMINISTRATIVE FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
A. Develops budgets based upon program needs, estimated enrollment, personnel, and other fiscal needs; implements programs within budget limits; maintains fiscal control; accurately reports fiscal information.
B. Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required appropriate to the school’s administration.
C. Assumes responsibility for maintenance, safety, and administration of the school plan.
D. Seeks outside resources to enhance the building budget.
VIII. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
A. ISAT scores/PSAE scores.
B. Explore Plan/ACT scores.
C. High School Graduation rate.
D. Percent of students enrolled in Level III, AP classes, and/or PreAP classes.
E. Percent of average daily attendance by subgroup.
F. Annual dropout rate.
G. Percent of seniors meeting NCLB recommended graduation requirements.
H. Developmental Reading Assessments (DRA)

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Illinois Type 75 certificate or equivalent
- Masters degree or above
- Prior teaching or administrative experience at the level to be assigned
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
