Description
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Learning Domain
- Foster a culture of excellence and improvement. Set high, measurable goals for student learning and use data to monitor progress and inform decisions.
- Nurture a culture of self-reflection, empower stakeholders to identify their strengths and areas of improvement and to seek feedback and support from others.
- Ensure that we offer a learning-focused curriculum that is comprehensive, rigorous, aligned with state and national standards and meets the needs and aspirations of all students.
- Foster a learning environment that utilizes data to monitor student progress, improve the instructional process and learning environment, and ensure high levels of personal and academic growth for all students.

- Lead the development and implementation of an effective, research-based instructional program that meets the needs and interests of every student. - Establish expectations, processes, and procedures that address the physical, mental, and emotional needs of students, staff, parents, and community members. Safety is a top priority.
- Manage the school’s logistics to ensure the smooth functioning of the school and the optimal learning outcomes for the students. Oversee the educational, operational, and financial affairs and resources of the school, and balance them effectively to meet the diverse needs of the students and staff.

Foster and support a culture of wellness for the entire school community, including students, staff, and families. - Use the PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports) methodology and the Behavioral Support Intervention Room to help students self-regulate and to address Tier 1 behaviors through our PBIS Program.
General
- Fulfills other duties as assigned.
- This position is the building’s administrator and lead evaluator. This position will work closely with the district’s superintendent in building PD (Professional Development), scheduling, supervision, and building discipline.

Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications (Traits, Education, Experience, Training, Physical Requirements, etc.)
- Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field. Ability to obtain Washington State Principal Certificate and/or Professional Administrator certificate prior to the first contracted day.
- Previous successful Administrative or Assistant Principal Experience preferred.
- If currently under contract, must be able to be released.
- Five years of secondary-level teaching experience.
- WSP/FBI Clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum and instruction including needs assessment, curriculum development, program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Experience with leading school MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) processes.
- Demonstrated skill and experience in the selection, placement, supervision, and evaluation of certificated and classified staff.
- Knowledge of, and the ability to use, research-based pedagogy to support and influence effective teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated experience with student management, discipline, and restorative justice.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate resolution of complex issues.
- Experience leading and/or participating in the PLC (Professional Learning Community) process.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to providing equitable opportunities for all.
- Demonstrated skill in communicating to diverse audiences both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing the operation of public high schools in Washington State.
- Demonstrated understanding of developmentally appropriate instruction and assessment.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Human relations and communication skills are necessary to handle frequent personal telephone inquiries from administration, teachers, parents, staff members, and students.
- The Assistant Principal operates under extremely heavy workloads and inflexible deadlines. Requests are often received that require immediate attention, setting up conflicting priorities for a timely response.
- Sound judgment and a pleasant attitude are required in a stressful situation.
- The employee must have the ability to lift materials, equipment, or boxes weighing up to 45 pounds.
- Be able to work in a loud environment with crowds.
