- Assistant Principal - Elementary
Description
The primary function of this position is to assist the school principal with all assigned activities of the school site and to assume full responsibility in the principal’s absence. Under the supervision of the principal, the Assistant Principal supports instruction, student discipline, and school operations; supervises assigned staff; supports the professional learning of teachers; and provides leadership that fosters a positive, safe, and inclusive school climate.

Experienced in MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support)
Experience in PLC (Professional Learning Communities) systems
Experience with elementary curriculum leadership.
Brings elementary teaching experience and a strong understanding of child development, particularly ages 8–11

Representative Duties
Curriculum and Instruction
Coordinate implementation and supervision of curriculum and instruction.
Support MTSS implementation and collaborate with staff on PLC structures to monitor student learning.
Ensure program articulation between grade levels and across schools.
Supervise registration and programming for all students.
Collaborate with Learning Support Services to coordinate placement and support for students with special needs.
Assist in developing the master schedule and balancing staffing allocations.
Observe and evaluate teacher instruction, providing coaching and actionable feedback.
Partner with the principal to design and evaluate innovative programs, after-school initiatives, and enrichment opportunities.
Participate in district curriculum and leadership committees as assigned.
Site Administration and Leadership
Serve as administrator-in-charge in the absence of the principal.
Provide leadership and professional development that promotes effective instruction and collaboration.
Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive school environment.
Lead the development and maintenance of school discipline systems that reflect restorative, fair, and culturally responsive practices.
Develop and maintain the school’s Disaster Preparedness Plan and emergency drills.
Collaborate with local law enforcement and community partners to support safety and engagement.
Support communication between staff, students, and families to build trust and connection.
Manage attendance procedures and discipline referrals.
Serve as an approachable, relational leader for students and staff alike.
Student Activities
Coordinate student recognition programs, awards, and events.
Supervise extracurricular activities, student government, and club operations.
Support equitable access to student activities and leadership opportunities.
Supervise and attend evening student events as needed.
Testing and Other Duties
Organize and supervise state and district testing programs.
Collect and analyze data to support academic and behavioral interventions.
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

School office and campus environment. Interactions with students, staff, parents, and community members.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid Washington State Principal Certificate.
Completion of at least three (3) years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the elementary level of this assignment; successful administrative experience preferred.
Recommendations from administrative supervisors who have observed the candidate’s professional performance.
Valid Washington State driver’s license.
